Provost Thorp has expressed a desire to change the conversation from “What will happen to Washington University in St. Louis, and/or my particular unit or function, as we increase the number of low income students?” to “What will happen to those low income students if we don’t?” To address this particular issue, and accomplish this change, Provost Thorp appointed an Advisory Group to conduct an audit of University structures and systems key to facilitating the quality of the undergraduate experience. The Advisory Group was asked to make recommendations regarding changes and enhancements that would help the University become better prepared to support the increased number of low income and first generation students.
