Jalie Merritt

Originally from Bunker Hill, Illinois, Jalie Merritt completed her BA in Slavic Languages and Literature with a concentration in Russian at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Serving as a Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellow, Jalie showed special interest in analyzing literature, graduated Summa Cum Laude as a Bronze Tablet Honoree, and is a permanent member of the National Slavic Honor Society- Dobro Slovo. As a first-year MAT student, Jalie plans to establish a Russian language course at a high school near her hometown upon completion of her studies. Jalie enjoys teaching and studying foreign languages in addition to Russian, such as Persian Farsi and Spanish, as well as creative writing, exercising, and traveling.
