To the Faculty of Washington University:
Applications and nominations are sought for the part-time position of vice provost at Washington University. An advisory committee on the appointment of the vice provost has been formed and will be chaired by Dean James E. McLeod. The committee has been asked to identify and recommend candidates from within the Washington University community.
The vice provost position will be filled by an internal Washington University full professor and will carry a 50% appointment.
The vice provost will report directly to Provost Edward Macias and have a portfolio of activities. Initial focus will be on diversity and faculty development, among other areas of campus-wide importance.
The review of candidates’ credentials will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. The successful candidate will have a record of exceptional scholarship and teaching, substantial administrative experience in a complex environment, high aspirations for the future of the university and high expectations for excellence.
For full consideration, applications and nominations should be received by October 15, 2010. Candidates should submit a C.V., a letter of interest and a list of three to five references. Applications, nominations, inquiries and expressions of interest should be forwarded, in confidence and preferably electronically, to email@example.com.
We strongly encourage interested applicants from our Washington University community to apply and ask faculty to nominate colleagues who would make strong candidates. If you have questions or comments, please contact any member of the advisory committee:
