Cancer Biology | Entering class of 2022 | Robert E. Thach Olin Fellow

Carmen Azevedo is a PhD student in the Department of Biology and Biomedical Sciences in the cancer biology program. She graduated from Oberlin College in 2015 with a degree in biochemistry where she played varsity field hockey and did both analytical chemistry research and French translation work. Carmen then worked as a radiochemist in the Cyclotron and Radiochemistry Facility and a molecular imaging research lab at Stanford University for several years. Her preclinical and clinical research in the molecular imaging field inspired her to pursue a PhD in cancer biology where she hopes to develop imaging probes for the detection of cancer. In Fall 2022, Carmen was awarded the Robert E. Thach Olin Fellowship in Biological and Biomedical Sciences.
