The Doctoral Council is a standing committee of Washington University in St. Louis that is advisory to the provost, and represents the faculty and students of schools granting the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree. The Doctoral Council engages in duties and responsibilities including:
- arranging periodic review of existing programs and consideration of new/amended PhD. programs at the university;
- advising the provost on university-wide issues and broader trends and best-practices pertaining to PhD. education; and
- discussing of policies impacting the PhD student body.
