Stephanie Yanez Wormleighton is a joint Law and Master of Social Work (JD/MSW) graduate student at Washington University in St. Louis. Her areas of interest include the relationship between poverty and trauma, the intersections between criminal, family, and immigration law, opportunities for restorative practices, and access-to-justice issues broadly. She seeks to be a trauma-informed and faith-rooted lawyer and community advocate. Since starting her law studies, Stephanie has served indigent clients navigating felony, misdemeanor, and municipal cases through Missouri State Public Defender and ArchCity Defenders; parents seeking family reunification through Legal Services of Eastern Missouri; immigrants and refugees through MICA Project; and clients affected by the COVID pandemic through New York Legal Assistance Group. Stephanie—a lifelong Californian—graduated from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business in 2015. Before moving to St. Louis, Stephanie worked in strategy consulting, business operations, and product management.
