Alexis Roberston
Neuroscience | Entering Year: 2024
Alexis Robertson is a doctoral candidate in the DBBS Neurosciences program, with a keen focus on elucidating the genetic, cellular, and molecular mechanisms underpinning neurodegenerative disorders, particularly Alzheimer’s disease. Her academic journey began in Memphis, Tennessee, where she was the esteemed recipient of the Clarence Day Scholarship. This prestigious award enabled her to provide aid to a mentorship program (It’s a Girl’s World), specifically designed to empower black girls in inner-city Memphis. Concurrently, Alexis has dedicated herself to mentoring and tutoring underrepresented minorities across various educational stages with her identity as an African American woman and first-generation undergraduate and graduate student being a driving force. As she advances in her graduate studies and research, Alexis aspires to persist in her mission to bridge the educational divide for students from low socioeconomic backgrounds and minority communities.
