Jess Camacho

Jess Camacho is a Mexican-American PhD student from Illinois seeking a degree in Cancer Biology. Jess is interested in understanding the tumor microenvironment within cancers as well as understanding the biological mechanisms of cancer growth and metastasis. Jess is a recent graduate from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York where she was a Biochemistry major. Being a first-generation college student, as well as the first person in her family to pursue a PhD, Jess hopes to mentor students like her in the science and research fields through making science more accessible as well as a more inclusive space for people of underrepresented backgrounds. In her free time, Jess enjoys cooking, baking, and reading books.
