Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Molecular Biology | Entering Year: 2024
Thomas Schodl (they/he) is a Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Molecular Biology (BBSB) PhD student interested in studying neurodegenerative diseases using structural and biophysical techniques. They received their BS (summa cum laude) in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Truman State University in 2024. While at Truman State, Thomas studied respiratory defects in mouse and rat models of Alzheimer’s Disease and was awarded the Barry Goldwater Scholarship for their work. They are excited about the opportunity to mentor and teach students through the Young Scientist Program and learn valuable teaching skills by participating in the Professional Development in Teaching Program. Thomas hopes that these programs and other experiences will help them grow as a student and mentor, ultimately equipping them with skills that will enable them to become faculty one day.
